Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide direction and leadership to engineering group including people management as follows:  managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports, passing information up the management chain and fostering open communication; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality while fostering a team environment
  • Manage the activities of engineers which includes functions such as:  project engineering, design engineering, mechanical engineering cost estimating, tool engineering and engineering support
  • Drive continual improvement on all programs in manufacturing
  • In partnership with the Program Manager, successfully transition programs from development to production, supporting the transition phase of projects from development (pre-PAR) to production approval
  • Responsible for satisfying customer expectations on product quality and timely delivery
  • Support overall engineering processes for technical expertise and resource as necessary in support of facility business
  • Support sales with proposals and quotes
  • Develop the facility engineering business plan by developing and maintaining budget controls on capital equipment projects and requirements
  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction
  • Manage a multi-site Engineering Team
  • Review projects on monthly basis and report to management

 

Safety/Environmental and Quality:

  • Where applicable, individual is pre-planning EH&S into work activities to improve performance
  • Complies with with all Quality, EH&S Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
  • Manage the P/L for Pre Production activities
  • Manage the purchase of new tools/equipment
  • Strive to implement the Koch BMB Guiding Principles throughout theEngineering department and  organisation

Design Development

  • Collaboration with DDC & Facility Engineering Managers to integrate corporate engineering services with facility engineering teams to provide Phillips-Medisize customers a seamless Phillips-Medisize experience

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  •  Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years applied engineering experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory/leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of process control equipment
  • Broad knowledge of materials and processes

  • Personal & interpersonal skills, including, but not limited to, caring about others, integrity and trust, listening, ethics and values
  • Strong and effective communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
  • Good judgment; showing strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower, perspective, and problem solving
  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastics/metal materials and associated processes
  • Understand FDA/ISO requirements
  • Good Financial understanding.
  • Good Project Management skills green/blackbelt qualification.
